Total Revenue

Lower is better

What is Total Revenue?

Total revenue is the amount of money that you've made within a particular period of time - not including any expenses or operating costs. It's great to look at piles of cash coming in, but it's important not to look at this KPI in isolation. You'll often want to calculate total revenue alongside other KPIs like churn rate or customer acquisition cost.

The primary reason to look at this KPI is to ensure that it's higher than your operating expenses.

Why is Total Revenue important?

Making money is important since it's the entire point of business! You need revenue to justify your expenses, pay yourself and other employees a salary, reinvest in future earnings.
